3-pin
"3-pin" is a self-descriptive term that refers to a method of boot retention that utilizes both the 75mm duckbill toe as well as 3 "pins" oriented in a line across the boot toe that penetrate up into the duckbill. 3-pin compatible boots feature a small steel plate molded into the toe, with 3 holes matching the binding pins. Holes are punched in the rubber sole of the boot to match. 3-pin bindings are still manufactured by Voile, and are popular among the lightweight touring crowd.

Pebax
Pebax® is a block copolymer which offers the widest range of performances (mechanical, chemical, processing) among the thermoplastic elastomers (TPE). Pebax® stands for polyether block amide. Pebax® is plasticizer free and belongs to the engineering polymers family. The pebax® range enables to bridge the gap between thermoplastics and rubbers.
Second Heel
"Second Heel" is the term given to the molded plastic lip on a NTN telemark boot, that is used by the NTN binding for retention. Instead of "grabbing" the boot at the actual heel, this lip is located at mid-sole. No additional adjustment of the binding is required to accomodate different sized boots, save for the "Long" and "Short" sizes.
