Alpine & XC skier since age 11, began telemark backcountry & resort skiing in 1987. Career Engineer & Physical Chemist, with associated tendency to over-analyze and modify outdoor sports-related gear with occasional success. As non-professional hobby, has tested prototypes of and provided design input to telemark bindings from three manufacturers, but has no such relationship with Rottefella. Currently owns 3 pairs of NTN boots, 3 sets of NTN bindings (v2.1), and has 9 pairs of skis mounted with NTN plates from 76 mm waisted hardpack skis to 136 mm waisted powder skis. Approx. 100 ski days per year, mix of resort and backcountry, mostly in western US (CA/OR/WA/UT/CO), Swiss Alps, and occasionally New Zealand.
